Windows Store or Xbox app installation failure

In Microsoft Q&A, Nathan P reports that required gaming components would not install. Moderator Vikki-T recommends Microsoft Store Library updates for Gaming Services and Xbox, then Gaming Services Repair before Reset, Xbox app Repair and a restart. The player later says Gaming Services and Xbox Identity Provider updates still return Retry.

The moderator then asks whether other Store apps update successfully. That is a useful conditional check: an all-app update failure gives support different information from a failure confined to Gaming Services. Their suggestions are support-thread advice, not a confirmed game patch. The separate AI-generated answer is not used as evidence here.

Use Repair before considering Reset and read the Windows confirmation prompt; app reset may require signing in again. Record the exact retry message. These Windows app actions do not apply to Linux or console systems.

Bazzite / GE-Proton: no window after GamingRepair.exe

The GitHub reporter lists Bazzite based on Fedora 44, native Steam and GE-Proton11-7. They say GamingRepair.exe fails to load AppInstallManager and the processes exit after about 24 seconds without a menu. They also report no success with Proton 9.0-3, an earlier GE version or several prefix/dependency changes.

The report leaves Proton Experimental testing as TODO while a boilerplate checkbox claims it was checked. Because those statements conflict, we cannot claim Experimental works or that the issue is exclusive to GE-Proton. A single report does not show that the game fails on every Linux setup.

As of October 4, 2026, we have not found a verified solution for this problem in the sources we checked. For a matching environment, follow that compatibility report for updates and add your distribution, Proton version and relevant log excerpt with personal paths removed. Do not translate a Windows Store reset into a Proton procedure.
